Panasonic RP-HTX7 calibration values!

The impedance is 40 Ohm that compared with the 10 Ohm  of the Telephonic and 32 Ohm of the Bose is quite high but is fine for iPad/iPhone

Remember: if the impedance is too high the iPad is not enough powerful to reproduce the lower frequencies like 250 Hz and 500 Hz at high volume.
This is also the reason I cannot go louder then 90 dB HL.

You can buy a new one for 50$-80$

Here a few screenshot of the headphone:. http://www.desidime.com/forums/hot-deals-online/topics/panasonic-rp-htx7-w1-stereo-headphones-white-for-rs2868-mrp-rs5182

and the official panasonic product page: http://shop.panasonic.com/shop/model/RP-HTX7-W1

Calibration values are the following:

frequency: 125  250 500  750 1000 1500 2000 3000 4000 6000 8000
values:     89   85  74   60   56   56   60   68   76   56   59

Thanks to Dave (Woodinville WA - USA) for the provided values!

New calibration method (and happy review!)

I just came across to a happy customer review that, beside the positive response ;-) it explain a new way to easily calibrate the App.
Read the review and pay attention to the bold section.

This is the mentioned SPL Meter App:  https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/spl-meter/id309206756?mt=8

Great Money Saver
4.0 star by Imagine Peds - 08/ott/2014

I have a Speech Therapy Clinic and insurers are now requiring that all kids have a current hearing screening performed before services are approved.

Physicians do not typically screen kids until much later, and it’s hit or miss.  Also, report data from school screenings are not made available for use.

Speech Therapists are licensed to perform screenings, so we chose to do them in house as part of our evaluation process.  Problem is that the basic equipment is $1200 plus.

While doing some research I came across this gem.  It works extremely well… perfect for screenings.

We already use iPads and we had a pair of Sony MDR-V6’s which are well suited for screenings.

It is very easy to calibrate any suitable closed ear headphones using the calibration menu and another App Store gem called SPL Meter by Andrew Smith (simply place the EarPod mic in the ear cup and put them on your head). This process can easily calibrate within +/- 3 dB… well within the ANSI specifications.

I would have rated 5 stars, but it appears there is an unresolved issue with AirPrint (it doesn’t work).  (Now Works in Ver 3.2)

For now, I am using the email report option which works fine.

ver. 3.1.6

Important Note: Always use "A" WEIGHTING with SPL Meter in order to have the same response curve of the professional Audiometers.

App Reviews

My App is in the market since May 2013 and since that I sold 300 copies.

Quite a good success!

I received many happy customer mail and some feature missing and bug complains.

Unfortunately I don't have so many official Apple Store reviews to let Apple show the 6 reviews i received so far.

If you are an happy customer please, leave a positive review in the App Store!

If you are not happy, please, write a mail to me! audiogrammobile@gmail.com and I will try to solve your issue

Telephonics TDH-39P

This is one of the common audiometric headphone of the market.

The impedance is very low, only 10 Ohm compared with the 32 Ohm of the Bose so they are very powerful and easy to be driven by the iPad/iPhone with quite low calibration values.

There is also a 100 Ohm version that is a little too much for the iPad/iPhone especially at low frequencies.

You can buy used ones on eBay for 70$-100$

For Telephonics TDH series spec follow the link.
